How often do you vacuum

Once a week, usually on Sunday. On the odd chance we can’t – such as this next weekend, when I’ll be fresh from shoulder surgery – we’ll go two weeks. I do the vacuuming, because the wife finds it too much to wield the machine. (We have a clear separation of duties: I vacuum and do the laundry; she dusts and irons.)

Beat you. We also vacuum when company’s coming or when the dog hair is up to our ankles, which works out to every couple of months.

Yes, we are slobs. I won’t even tell you about the kitchen floor.

We have one of those electric brooms that gets used several times a day for small stuff, the regular big assed vac is done once a week, and the carpets are steam cleaned twice a year.

I vacuum every Sunday afternoon, unless I’m out of town that week, then I’ll skip and wait until next Sunday. I’m a guy, live alone, no pets.

Seems I am also a slacker… I vacuum about once every 2-3 weeks, or the day before guests come over

When my son(age 5) was little, and we still had our dog(2+years ago), I vacuumed the whole downstairs every day.
Now it is once a week, and sometimes longer. I can hardly find the floor, for all the toys, so it gets put off a lot!
It is a good thing the boy isn’t eating stuff off the floor much anymore.

My niece who runs an daycare in her home vacuums and MOPS daily! Some people are just like that.

With 2 golden retrievers the better question is, how often do you NOT vacuum! :stuck_out_tongue:

Depending on how much we comb and brush them we can go a day or maybe even 2 in between vacuums before the tumbleweeds start getting too monstrous.

We have hardwood floors and 3 cats, so we try to vacuum every week, usually on Sunday. The Dyson Animal was the best gift ever, it’s disgusting how many tumbleweeds we pick up with that thing. It’s like a 4th cat in there.

But this has been motivated by having friends over every week, and it helps my allergies as well.
It’s fun to marvel at how gross your floors can get after only 1 week.

No pets here, but I do handquilt and there are always threads all over the living room carpet. I’d say I vacuum every few weeks when I can’t take it anymore, or of course when I know a guest is coming over. ETA: just like Ahzure!

:o
I’m pleading the fifth.

Five cats, and I don’t vacuum often enough. I hate me.:frowning:

My place is vacuumed whenever the cleaning lady comes, which is about twice a month. It’s just me and Buddy Cat and I’m a pretty tidy person.

Like Jali, I use a Dustbuster around Buddy’s box twice a day after he uses it and after I scoop it. I also wipe down the toilet and vanity in the bathroom every day.

If Buddy has really tracked a lot of litter all over, I’ll use the Dustbuster wherever I can see litter.

I used to be more fastidious but I’m getting lazy in my old age.

I’m with the others who don’t do it much, or only do it when company comes over.

I have a crappy old carpet which is similar in color to my dog. Same for the couch. Both were free (well, the carpet came with the house 'n stuff) so Dolly and I are enjoying not giving a shit about the state of our carpeting/upholstery while we still can.

I DO have a sorta-excuse - my $59 Big Lots refurb special is on its last legs and I’m saving up for something nicer. Hopefully by next spring. With all the dog hair I am SO over bagless, so I hope to get something with a bag. I was bored this weekend and watched an Oreck commercial…hold me!

Once a week-if I can be bothered!!

When our bagless died during our move into our new place my girlfriend and I were only a little annoyed that we had to go buy a new one because this meant goodbye to the bagless mess that was our current vac, hello good old fashioned Eureka baggy goodness again. Having to use a toothbrush and a toothpick weekly on a dust encrusted vaccum was getting a little old, not to mention that it liked to dump everything out just a half inch before you made it to the garbage can.

Once a week in the kitchen, dining-room and living-room. Whenever the mood strikes for the rest of the house. I have a bird, three cats, and a dog. The furry ones live mostly outdoors, but shed for all their worth when they’re indoors. And the bird sheds feathers, birdseed hulls, strips of shredded paper, and poops wherever she goes.

I thought you couldn’t vacuum with hardwood floors. Or do you need a special vacuum for that?

I only vacuum my linoleum kitchen and tile bathroom once a week. I sweep and use Sweefer on the rest of the house at the same time. I also mop (all the floors) twice a month.

I wish I could have a handvacuum or lint brush, as my bed and clothes are always full of dog hair.

I’ve just started the whole weekly house maintenance thing (at 26, you’d think my habits would be better, but no), and I have one area rug that gets vacuumed every 1-2 weeks, and the couches get vacuumed once a week. The cats hang out more on the couches than the rug.
