How often do you vacuum

How often do you guys vacuum?

I vacuum the carpet weekly when I dust and do other hated household chores. (I use a small hand vac near the litter box a couple of time per day, but this is something new for me)

I have cousin that vacuums the full house every day (at least while I’m visiting). Is she weird or am I just a lazy bum?

At least 3 times a week if not more. I have 4 cats and a dog and if do it any less often then there’s dog and cat hair blowing across the floors like tumbleweeds.

Our cleaning lady does it once a week.
We are a two-and-a-half person, three cat-household, and our floors are mostly tile or wood.
But I also try to brush our cats once a month. That removes a buttload of hair.

Once a week, most of the year- but this is the time of year where we have to do it two or three times a week. Our yard has a lot of hardwood trees, and a big deck- so we’re tracking in leaves all the time, and we really need to do it more than once a week. The leaves usually stop falling right about the time we get the Xmas tree up and have to vacuum up the needles a few times a week.

Once a week. If I wanted my floors cleaned any more than that, I’d probably invest in a Roomba. One thing I do need to do more often is get the carpet deep-cleaned.

My ex-g/f vacuumed every single day, the second she would get home from work. I found that odd-- she worked long hours (therefore not walking on her own carpet very much), had no roommates, her only pet was a fish, and she had no allergies to dust or anything. I got a glare of death the one time I suggested that, by vacuuming, she was actually walking more on her carpet (and using a machine which beat the carpet and rolled all over it), subjecting it to more wear and tear than if she just relaxed when she got home from work. It wasn’t like Mommie Dearest when Joan decided Christina’s bathroom needed to be cleaned, but the glare was still kind of scary.

I don’t have a “schedule”, I vacuum when the floor looks like it really needs it. If there’s a spill of something that needs to be vacuumed up, I usually take that opportunity to do the rest of the downstairs while I’m at it.

Normally works out to ~weekly, but there have certainly been occasions when it was more often. Never daily, though. I’m too lazy. Plus, I really don’t think it necessary.

Ooo ooo - I’ve just ordered a vacuum cleaner! Boo Dog is very furry and I’ve had enough. So right now , not at all, but soon it’ll be everyday until the novelty wears off.

Not often enough. I am getting better about my untidy habits. I am no longer quite as bad as Oscar Madison, but certainly no where near Felix Unger.

I would guess it has been a few weeks since I last ran a vacuum. But I did wash the kitchen floor yesterday.

Depends how many crumbs end up in the rug (sometimes lots of them when my son has friends over…)

Usually once, twice a week… when it needs it.

Rarely. I even bought an expensive Dyson hoping it would motivate me to vacuum more. Didn’t work. <sigh>

Probably every two weeks. I know I should do it more, because we have three cats and allergies, but I can’t motivate myself to do it more often and the man never feels like it’s all that necessary. We’ll keep putting it off till I one of us gets frustrated about getting up from the couch with an ass covered in cat fur. And I’m usually the first one to break.

My entire house is either wood or tile, but I do have a shop vac to get the beastlies out from behind furniture that can’t be moved.

I do this about three times a year.

I do half the house once a week, and the other half the following week. Unless company’s coming.

Every second day, sometimes every day. Those vacuum lines just make me feel like the house is clean for some reason. Plus, I have three dogs.

I dust every second or third day, and clean the kitchen nightly.

My son does it once a week if he wants an allowance.

Wow… I feel like such a slacker.

We vacuum every couple of weeks, which I thought was a reasonable amount (especially our household consists of two hairy cats and two hairy humans).

Our house is 99% hardwood floor, though, with a small amount of carpet on the stairs, so a quick sweep with the broom every couple of days seems to keep it under control in-between vacuumings. If we had wall-to-wall carpet, we’d probably get stuck doing it every couple of days.

I vacuum (upstairs where there’s carpet) about every month or so. I’d like to do it every week but - just not possible with the household as it is (being as how the best cleaning and tidying time is when the Small Boy’s asleep smack in the middle of the vacuuming area).

I do try to sweep the floor (downstairs where there’s tile) every day if possible. It’s amazing how much dust and gunk gets on it in even just 24 hours. And that helps make sure the dirt doesn’t get tracked upstairs.

It probably works out to be about once a week or 10 days or so. I find I do it more often now that my kids are older and I’m not in grad school etc. We have hardwood floors for several rooms, so that’s usually a broom–about the same frequency, too.

What I do put off is dusting. Until I can write my name in it, I don’t dust. I hate to dust and we live in a drafty old house that is a dust magnet. I could do it every day. I’ve got better things to do with my day.

Wow, I should be ashamed to even post in this thread. We (meaning I) usually vacuum whenever we’re having people over. This works out to being about once a month. There are only two of us in the house, so the carpets don’t generally get filthy or anything, but still. You people do this once a week? I am such a slacker!

What is this ‘vacuum’ you speak of?
