How Old is the Oldest Person You Know?

My mom is 95 and took her 3 daughters and granddaughter from California to NYC last year. She was great on the trip but tired easily. And she was great in the bar when the bartender treated her to champagne to celebrate her birthday. Mentally sharp as a tack.

My aunt’s boyfriend was 99 when he died a couple of years ago.

A lady who goes to my church is 94.

When I went to meet Mrs Iggy’s family 8 years ago I met her grandfather and was told he was 93. Here it is years later and I was told just turned 96. I’m not sure anyone really knows exactly how old he is.

That made me curious, so I found her Wikipedia page. Indeed, a remarkable and good life.

your 100 year old mom

We sang “happy birthday” to a 95 year old lady at church today. I guess I can say I know her now (since I saw who was being sung to). She’s actually still in the choir. Not bad for someone her age!

Correction to my earlier post - my grandfather will be 91 this week, not 93.

My aunt’s mother-in-law, who is currently 104, had it done at 101 (I think) after a bad fall. She’s definitely the oldest person I know. I don’t see her often, but she still seems pretty sharp. When my cousin (her oldest grandchild) told her she was pregnant, she said “For the love of God, don’t name her Ethel. I’d be flattered, but that’s just mean.”

My uncle’s brother Jack, who is 104 (My uncle is 98).

I work with a gent who turned 102 just last month. He spent last summer clearing 3 decades worth of vining ivy from his brick house, working 4-6 hours a day out in the heat. This year I think I will bring up his abandoned beehives and supply him with scrapers, brushes, etc, so he can “fix them up” so he will have a good outdoor project. Otherwise I’m afraid he may decide to build a new house or hike the Appalachian Trail or something.

My former guidance counselor’s mother-in-law is turning 102 in a few months. She passed her eye exam for her driver’s license renewal last week, though her daughter does not allow her to drive. She gets around just fine without a cane or a walker and is very feisty. She lives on her own, though I think she does live an assisted living facility. A little hard of hearing, but not much else wrong.

My sister in law’s grandmother is over 90 - I think she’s 92. Since her great granddaughter was born nearly 2 years ago, she’s made her several dresses. Remarkable and very loveable lady

Since fairly recent deaths in the family to which I belong, my submission for “oldest person currently known first-hand” has become fairly unimpressive compared to those of many PPs --a guy of my acquaintance, born in 1928 and still mentally very active. Until a few years ago, I had two nonagenarian uncles: born during World War I, and reached the ages of 92 and 91 respectively. Both fell victim to dementia in their last years.

Wow. I just realized that I don’t know anyone older than my stepdad, who is 67. Prior to him, it would have been his mother, who was well into her nineties when she died a couple of years back.
