How Partisan are You?

Then quote what he says about sex. Not boofing, not alumni, actual quotes about sex.

“Boofing” is about sex, buddy.

“Renate Alumnius” is about sex, buddy.

Devil’s triangle" is about sex, buddy.

Are you really not capable of seeing through even the most utterly transparent of lies? That must make your life difficult.

I’m not the one taking unsubstantiated allegations as god-given truth.

My two cents on these terms. Boofing was something that I recall being used when I was in college and had a range of meanings. Boofed it was could be similar to screwed it up or messed up (man, I totally boofed it), could mean screwed (I’m boofed) or could be sex or could be anal sex (I boofed her or him) depending on exactly how it was used. I’ve seen the term used in a variety of ways, so it would depend on the context.

The other ones are too specific. I could see ‘Renate Alumnius’ meaning the club of guys who screwed some girl (or claimed to have) as plausible, but it’s going to be very specific to some in groups slang and I bet even they won’t all agree. You’d also have to be in that in group to really know what they meant.

Devil’s triangle is going to be similar. Certainly I think it’s plausible to refer to a certain part of the female anatomy, but could be other things too.

So…all your examples basically require one to interpret exactly what the in groups slang was or to make some assumptions. I agree, that the most likely explanation is it has to do with sex in one way or another (we are talking about teens here), but that’s not the only explanation, and I’d hesitate to make definitive statements, even if some of the supposed in group have come forward with their interpretations. I know that in my own experience that the slang used by a group doesn’t always mean the same thing to everyone, and it’s not always spelled out what they mean when they use the specific terms…in fact, part of being in a group means it’s NOT spelled out, you are just supposed to get it or you shouldn’t be in the group. My own anecdote wrt is the use of the word spider…it was used for various things. I THOUGHT it referred to something similar to how you seem to be interpreting Devil’s Triangle, but I found out later that it meant different things to different people in my own group (I won’t go into all the gory details…it was pretty funny when we all sat down and talked about what we THOUGHT it meant, something we’d all been using for several years).

Kavenaugh’s roommate said he used the words “boofed” and “devils triangle” to mean the sex terms (by the way, devil’s triangle means a threesome, not a part of a woman). His classmates confirmed that the Renate Alumnus thing was also sexual.

Also, “boofed” and “devil’s triangle” were common enough slang that I know what they mean, and I grew up a long distance from Kavenaugh. I suspect I knew the terms the same way most of my peers did–they were used in the type of raunchy sex comedies that were popular in the early 80s (like Porky’s, though I don’t think either term was used in that movie). Since there was a common source, that meant not many people would misuse them.

Also, it’s a pretty strange coincidence that he managed to misunderstand every sex term given in his yearbook, don’t you think? Getting one wrong might be understandable, but gettting them all wrong…?

Well, you and I don’t see the terms the same. I certainly recall boofed, and I was pretty sure what devil’s triangle was wrt my own peer group (crazy white folks though…would have never occurred to me it was about a 3 some, especially when I was a kid, since that wasn’t something that was a thing in my peer group :p).

Oh, I’m sure he was telling fibs about the terms, regardless, though my WAG is you wouldn’t get anyone at a congressional hearing to say what the teen age childish terms in their high school year book actually meant. As I said, it’s plausible that they mean exactly what you say or think they mean, and even if not they still don’t mean flattering stuff (like, what’s the real difference wrt the overarching discussion if devil’s triangle means 3 some or a part of female anatomy? Is one better than the other?).

However, i think this shows the evangelical Christian movement is mostly hypocritical. let us assume for a minute that Ford mixed up her memory, and that it was NOT Kavanaugh.

Still, the boofing, the devils triangle, the Renata alumni, the drugs the drinking, etc- shows a man deeply committed to sin. :frowning:

But they still support him in the fond hope that Roe might get overturned.

The sides on this can not be switched, Democrats wouldn’t act the way Republicans have. If a Democratic President said a potential sexual assault victim was lying because she didn’t report it right away or because she doesn’t remember every detail, then he would lose support from his/her base immediately.

I had this case as a he said/she said before the hearings, no one really can know the truth. But the way Kavanaugh acted at his hearing pushed me to think it’s more likely than not that he is guilty of the accusations.

Conservatives keep touting, “there’s no corroborating evidence!”, but they have also been actively suppressing the search for evidence. They are afraid of what they might find.

“Kavanaugh Accuser’s High School Yearbooks Reveals History Of Drunken Promiscuity”

[/QUOTE]

I can’t believe I wasted five minutes of my life watching this. Did the OP watch the video? What in the video leads you to believe that this reveals Ford’s history of drunken promiscuity? (Even if it did, drunken promiscuity is not a free pass to be sexually assaulted.)

  1. I would be of the same mind if the parties were reversed although if they were the nomination would have been pulled very early. Not for any reason of ethics but as a matter of politics and who is the voter in and supporters of each party. Franken would have had no problem as a GOP senator but was toast as a D.

  2. Bigger picture though. I am MUCH more partisan now than I used to be. I am now very partisan. Once upon a time I usually voted D but sometimes preferred those with Rs attached to their names. I certainly respected many of the Rs. Now? I see team R as committed to what I consider great evils and what they see as reality and see as basic moral principals and what I do have very little overlap. We are inhabiting the same space but it is as if we are existing in planes of existence like that Escher print “Relativity”. Our frames of reference have become completely incompatible.
