At the bar where I work, the bar is lacquered wood and is very sticky. No matter how much I scrub it it is still sticky. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get it clean?
I built a bar, and had the same problem.
You can use a little bit of rubbing alcohol, or even some everclear if you can spare it. After that, give it a good hosing with some warm water or Spic & Span.
Just like my grandpappy used to say: “Cut a sticky semiliquiferous solid with it’s solvent.”
He was a wise, wise man.

He sure did say a lot of wise things.
“everclear”?
Everclear alcohol, one would assume.
Not a very well stocked bar?
No. And I am very new at this.
Yes, the renowned Everclear (190 proof/95% pure grain alcohol).
But BEFORE you do this, I have to ask: what kind of finish is on the bar? I should have asked this before. . .

Holy cow, let me know. . .
Isn’t Everclear illegal in most states?
Not that I’ve seen. It’s basically 100% grain alcohol. It’s available in different forms in different stores like hardware stores.
The commercial retail beverage is sold as “Everclear”. An industrial solvent/cleaning agent is “Denatured Alcohol”. HOWEVER you cannot drink denatured alcohol. They mix either a touch of jet fuel or some other ingredient to make it toxic in order to get around alcoholic beverage taxes and laws. You’ll get good and drunk, but it’ll also kill you.
My question for Muad’Dib relates to the finish on his bar. It’s possible that if he uses this stuff, it may bring up the finish. I just want to know what he’s got. . .
Tripler
I don’t think it’ll mess up a polyurethane finish, tho.
Sorry I took so long to respond, I have been working like all git’out to get that place clean.
The bar is oak with a polyurethane finish.
Muad’Dib, try my above idea of denatured alcohol. A quart should only cost you a dollar or two (no more than $2.00). Try a little section of it at a time, and see if it works. Polyurethane shouldn’t be dissolved, but just try it to be on the safe side.
Tripler
Like, a real small section.
