I think the Pit ought to be retained. It can continue to be a place for posters to bitch, whine, and complain at each other or at life. Some restrictions apply, of course.
The troll hunters and sock hunters need to go, though.
- There’s already a mechanism in place to deal with trolls and socks–report them to the mods.
- New posters aren’t going to want to remain if the old-timers immediately pounce on them with often baseless accusations of socking up and trollery.
- The whole thing has become a community unto itself. The serial socks aren’t making new socks to troll the board–they’re doing it for the sole purpose of trolling the self-appointed troll-finder generals.
