How should the Pit be changed, if at all?

What’s the actually-a-troll to not-actually-a-troll ratio that would make that purpose constructive? You might catch a handful of trolls (who would have eventually been caught anyway), but you’ve unfairly attacked at least that many innocent new posters, some of whom say Fuck this place and leave.

It’s not worth the cost.

What’s the evidence for the vast numbers of innocent newbies being driven away by the Pit?

One, I wasn’t talking about the Pit, but about the troll-hunter threads.

Note that reporting potential trolls does much the same as the latter, and can also be extremely helpful to the mods. It’s generally preferable, as it doesn’t “poison the well” for other posters.
