How the hell did I end up with so many water bottles?

I’m on the other extreme of the spectrum from you guys …

I just (well past 6 months) researched and bought 2 ss-water bottles. I hate to admit it, but I am THAT guy … the guy who studies waterbottles before comitting to a $9 purchase. :man_facepalming:

Both from Decathlon (one of the few outlets that have actually time/temperature curves for their vacuum bottles!!!), a 0.5L normal one w/ flip-top and a 0.4L vacuum one (for coffee).

I am happy with both - they do their job beautifully … are of good size and fit my backpack

Our teenage daughters, on the other side … plenty of glass/plastic/alu bottles in all kinds of sizes and designs …

I love Decathlon for that reason. Their stuff just works well.

I have always associated this saying with Fred Allen, the now all-but-forgotten genius radio comedian. However, I wanted my post to be accurate, so I entered the phrase into Quote Investigator.

Much to my surprise, their always impeccably documented research shows it was probably created by Steve Allen. Go figure.

Is the wise woman you’re referring to possibly Dorothy Parker? She said/wrote many clever sayings, but not this one.

Other people to whom this quote has been misattributed include Tom Waits (who used on a 1977 appearance on Fernwood Tonight) and John Prine.
