How the hell do you get Gorilla tape off of a car?

A few months back someone broke into our car, shattering the rear driver’s side window in the process. For reasons that I shant bore you with, we drove around with plastic sheeting taped over the window for a particularly long time. As it can rain buckets in Atlanta, I wanted to make sure that the plastic wouldn’t leak, so I used Gorilla tape. It seemed like a good idea at the time, and we never had any leaks…

We had to re-apply the sheeting and the tape on more than one occasion, and now that we finally had the window fixed, I’ve got sticky grey bands of adhesive residue all over the car.

I bought some special “goo-gone” automotive spray gel, but after 3 attempts at using it as directed, I had managed to remove only a handfull of Gorilla molecules.

Anyone have any suggestions?

WD-40. Works every time.

That adhesive has probably baked onto your car in the sun. It is going to take some time to get off, even with WD40 or goo gone or any other adhesive remover.

Wait till it’s very warm out and then try again. Heat makes a huge difference when you’re trying to remove adhesive from any surface. Don’t give up yet, just wait till it’s a nice hot sunny day and try again.

Thanks. It was damn cold the day I tried the goo-gone stuff. Cold enough to make me give up much earlier than I would’ve liked.
