I think you are a male goldfish.
I usually don’t think much of it unless something in a post strikes me funny… Sometimes it has to do with names… I can’t see guys having names with “mom” or “girl” anywhere in them…likewise I doubt many girls would have names with “guy” but other than that who knows…
I don’t know what prejudices me about Giraffe but it did seem like a girl’s name and I understood some of the confusion in the earlier thread.
For the record… I’m a girl… but in my college MUD days many people thought I was a guy because I played and talked “like a guy” Guess since I wasnt receptive to their offers of MudSex and since I played better than they it helped their ego to think I was a guy? In conversations I am a bully… I try not to be but I hate that apologetic fashion most of the women I know use! Ugh!
Give the man a prize!
I tend to assume gender neutrality, it’s one of the really cool things about communicating online that you can go strictly by the posters’ words rather than “who” they are. And an awful lot of stuff is gender neutral, you just don’t need to take gender (or sexual orientation) into account when discussing it.
It’s kinda like Spanish. Every fucking noun has to have some kind of gender. What the hell is that all about? Can’t they recognize that a thing is often a thing and not a male or female thing? Jeebus.
Giraffe - I thought you were a guy but wasn’t really sure until now.
There are quite a few posters here who’s gender is still a mystery to me. I usually go by content and tone but even that isn’t always a sure method to use.
I’ve had the same problem (if you want to call it that) from time to time as my user name is pretty gender neutral.
I guess if people hear me talking about Lola they’ll figure I’m I guy… but then again she could be my lesbian lover.
I don’t think gender is that important when people are discussing things, I like to judge people on the merit of their words and not by how they are equipped.
Perhaps if I was looking for someone or wanted to flirt I would be more interested in those types of things.
I’m pretty sure FCM is a woman, we talk quite a bit online but then again… I really have no hard evidence to prove it except that most guys aren’t that sweet…
tanookie: 'For the record… I’m a girl… but in my college MUD days many people thought I was a guy because I played and talked “like a guy” ’
Heh-heh. With a screenname like that, how can we think you’re anything other than female?
Other manly smilies that should exist:

Well JohnT… I asked that and it seemed some assumed I was trying to pretend to be a girl… shrug
Yeah, you’re prolly just dropping a hint because I didn’t send you a pic after you shared yours with me. So here - I’m the one on the left.
I’m a guy.
Just in case that wasn’t clear from some of my posts.
I have nothing more to add, apart from wanting to point out that for some strange reason, I really enjoy being called a “boy giraffe”.
Who but a boy giraffe would advertise his tounge? I knew it all along. And, yes, I am a girl.
I always thought you were a boy giraffe. I dunno why, maybe the tone. Maybe because when I see your name, I see a picture of a giraffe in my head. And I don’t think of giraffes as being a feminine animal. If your name were koala, I might’ve thought you were female. I guess I’m weird.
And I am, indeed, a girl.
–Oddly enough, I would definately consider a Koala more masculine than a Giraffe.
–Although I did think that Giraffe was a male originally…but now…
Tongue salesman?

So that’s manly!
I don’t currently have an SO, but I figure that absolutely everybody knows that the poetic creation of a newspaper columnist for the New York Sun in 1916, Mehitabel the Cat, was a female.
i am a lady archy
always a lady to hell with
anything unrefined is my motto
And on the SDMB, I might be right!
