How to feed my dog liver.

Why not just transplant it into a dog, and let the dog take care of feeding?

I dehydrate liver for my dog and she goes crazy for it. I feel fine giving her a few pieces a day, and she’s super healthy.

She loves it so much I decided to sell it. For anyone who wants an easy option, (shameless plug) I’m selling dehydrated liver treats here. [removed link]

Sorry didn’t realize this was going to be inflammatory. Any way for me to delete my post?

Don’t worry about it too much. When a zombie thread gets reopened with a post that offers to sell something, we tend to treat it as a spammer. You’re obviously not one of those, so you’ll probably just get a nice request to not do that except in a specific forum. Welcome to the Dope!

I’ve taken the link out. If you really didn’t intend to spam than just don’t do it again and you’ll be fine.

With fava beans and a nice chianti. Woof.

Our cat loved turkey liver, raw. Then she puked it up all over our carpet.

Two of our cats love love love boiled chicken liver. The other wouldn’t eat it if it were covered in, well, the only cat food he eats. Apparently liver is an acquired taste amongst the felines, but I’ve never seen a dog pass up boiled liver.

I make a paste in the food processor with raw liver, flour, and eggs, and then roll it out into long worms, cut into inc-long lengths, and bake until hard and dry in a slow oven. They last forever and were my dog’s favorite treats. He wouldn’t touch any other biscuit, but loved these! They were kind of awful-smelling during the preparation and baking.

In some cultures, cat-regurgitated raw turkey liver is considered a delicacy.

Not in my culture…I wasn’t real thrilled with trying to clean that bloody mess out of the carpet either.

I’m one of those nut-jobs  that feeds my dogs raw (primarily) so liver and various organ meats are part of the normal rotation. Liver is quite rich and can cause dire rear in large-ish quantities. A couple of years ago I pulled a big package or raw beef liver out of the freezer to defrost, then forgot to put it out of the hounds’ reach.

Ooops. The Rottweiler ate about 5 lbs of raw beef liver in one sitting. He was quite unwell as a result, and for several days was either spontaneously projectile-vomiting bits of partially-digested liver throughout the house, or having the Sudden Liver Shits in inappropriate locations.

Don’t feed liver to animals in large quantities.
