How to fix a memory leak in windows 10?

Every few days, my memory usage goes up to 100% my computer slows to a crawl, and needs to be restarted. I’ve just been doing that for a long time, but I’m getting a little irked by it since I run stuff off it that I’d like to have near 100% uptime since I access it remotely for various services.
The percentage numbers for processes in task manager do not add up to 100%. Not even close. So, something is causing a leak, I just don’t know what. I’ve heard this could be due to faulty drivers, but I don’t really want to be hunting down drivers and installing and uninstalling devices randomly if can avoid it. I have full administrative access to the computer. Anybody else have this problem? If so, how did you fix it?

Often times it is application programs you are running, for example browsers. Perhaps you should do some searches for each of the major programs you run along with the phrase memory leak and see what turns up.

I had this happen to my Windows 7 box a few weeks ago. I fixed it by rolling back to a recent restore point to avoid a recent software update.

I’d start by looking for poorly written programs or applications. I’d also look for malware and viruses.

If looking at the Processes on Task Manager make sure to select All Users if you have more than one user on the computer.

The Performance tab, Memory grid might be more helpful.

Maybe add more memory or just reboot every couple of days.
