How to get IE favourites to open in their own window?

I put my ‘links’ subfolder of my internet favourites on my start bar, so I have convenient access to my main favourites from the bottom of the screen.

Trouble is, when I click one it takes over the previously used IE screen.

Is it possible to have them open in their own window?

What version of IE are you using? In each of the more recent ones, there’s a setting under “internet options” that forces links to be opened in new windows or tabs.

I’m Using IE7 (at work)

I have tabbed browsing switched off but there’s an option in internet options->advanced called ‘reuse windows for launching shortcuts’ I switched that off to achieve what I was looking for.

Thanks for pointing me in that direction

I did look there first, but because of the way it’s worded I must have missed it. I guess I was looking for a checkbox for ‘open links in new window’.

Thanks again.

yOU CAN ALSO RIGHT CLICK THE FAVORITE LINK AND CLICK OPEN IN NEW TAB/WINDOW.

ETA: sorry about the caps.

no you can’t.
Try it yourself. put your links favourites on your start bar. right click.

edit: It doesn’t work from the IE favourites bar either. It only works when you’re actually clicking on a link within a page.
