I want to get a few of the new hundred dollar bills. My local bank branch does not have any yet. Any options more expedient than sitting around waiting for them to get some?
Warning: Wild-assed Guess:
I suppose if you wanted to take a trip, you could go to a large/high-volume bank nearby to your regional Federal Reserve Bank. I suppose they would be more likely to have gotten them already and still have some on hand.
newmoney.gov doesn’t have any specific information. Just keep trying (weekly maybe), or try a different branch. A bank that you are not a member of may allow you to exchange $100 in your cash for the new one (the one I worked at never had a problem, you just can’t buy it with a personal check). You can probably ask a manager about what day of the week they expect an order.
I have seen auctions for them on eBay, but you’ll be paying over face value for them with this method.
Is there a casino in your area? They have a lot of cash and may have some.
I saw one for the first time today.
I have never seen such a fascinating note.
Really!
The vertical blue hologram dealie is cool as hell and there’s microprinting scattered about. On the back is a large 100 in bold orange and the Liberty Bell on the front is sparklingly eye catching.
A coworker got it from his local bank branch.
I also had a coworker get one from a local bank branch yesterday. Quite frankly I think the Liberty Bell looks like a scratch & sniff, but it is an intriguing design overall.
I had lunch with a few friends at a barbecue joint last Sat. and one of the guys asked the cashier if he had seen any of them yet. The guy said, “Yeah, sure.”, went back to the office and brought one out and traded it to my buddy for five twenties.
Personally, I like the design and think that it will make counterfeiting one of them, extremely difficult.
That reminds me, I thought it looked like the scratch-off portion of an instant win lottery ticket or gift card activation code.
