How To get out of iraq?

ExTank: I still have the cynical belief that Iraq is a grand, strategic “recon by fire” designed to lure Islamic militants out into open action, where they can be seen, combatted, captured, interrogated, etc., as opposed to just leaving them alone and wondering when the next attack on American soil will come.

Jesus. Are you seriously suggesting that you think our Administration deliberately chose to invade a foreign country and unleash on its citizens all the destruction of years of war, insurgency and terrorism, simply because we’re too lazy and/or chicken to confront terrorist attempts on our own turf?

I hope you’re wrong about that. For one thing, that would be pretty darn illegal, no? AFAIK, “recon by fire” is not a legitimate reason for invading another country.

Well, we’re “Evil Repukes,” aren’t we?

If we really are the most evil, conniving, scheming sunzabitches to have been inflicted upon the great nation of the United States of America, is it a strategy that’s beneath us?

No, I don’t really believe that; but I do sometimes wonder.

Usually after watching the news.

“Recon by Fire” is an acceptable tactic, and I used it merely as a recognizeable “term” to illustrate a larger strategy with similar aims: get the other guys riled up by your actions to force them to reveal themselves (their aims, goals, methodologies, etc.)

Think about Abu Ghraib; the soldiers that were convicted claiming that the orders for what they did came “from above.”

What would piss off more Islamic Militants, and Insurgents? News of the Koran being flushed down toilets at Gitmo? News of American servicemen executing wounded Iraqi insurgents?

In the realm of fiction (yet not implausible):

News that Haliburton defense contractors are running slave-brothels with captive Iraqi women?

News that Iraqi war orphans are being shipped to China to work in factories owned largely by American mega-corp. investors?

News of a napalm bomb being dropped on a packed mosque “on accident?”
