How to install a hard drive?

I have an old PC that I am not really using. I was thinking about getting rid of it and using my other PC but I thought, the processor may be old & slow but the hard drive is still ok.

Both PC’s are Dell’s. Is it possible to take the internal hard drive from the old PC and put it in the empty bay I have in the new PC?

Anyone have any pointers on pitfalls of this project?

It should be relatively easy. First you’ll need to disconnect the power and IDE cables from the old drive, and remove it from its mounting bracket. (Save the screws, you may need them for mounting it in the new machine.) Next you’ll need to reconfigure the jumpers on the back of the drive to set it to IDE slave mode. There is usually a diagram printed on the drive casing showing what the jumper configuration should be. If not, try googling the drive’s brand and model number. Then just mount it in your spare bay and connect it to a spare power coupling and the slave slot on your IDE bus.
