how to keep a 21-month-old quiet during a long plane trip

Caractacus Pott : Frankfurt is a good airport to go through. For some reason, though, Lufthansa doesn’t stop in Frankfurt anymore from LAX to Switzerland - instead they have you go through Munich?!?

Heathrow is OK. I did learn my lesson once though when booking flights - look carefully at the airports, not just the city! On our last trip to Switzerland we landed at Gatwick and the next flight was leaving from Heathrow. I just saw “London” on the British Airway tickets and didn’t pay any more attention than that.

Munich’s was named Europe’s best airport for 2007, if that means anything. One advantage is that it’s usually not all that crowded so you can stop to gather your thoughts without being pushed and shoved. It also sort segregates the Star Alliance partners from the others, so you’re more likely to stay in the same terminal building when changing airlines within the alliance (i.e. United and Lufthansa are in the same building). Give it a try next trip.
