This kid speaks German but I think he might be ethnically Turkish. His name is Ayberk-Enes; not sure if that’s Turkish, German, or some of each.
How would I pronounce it?
There are lots of people of Turkish heritage in Germany, because of past Gastarbeiter programmes, one of the largest groups of immigrants there, I think, with current generations well represented in politics, sport and other aspects of public life alongside other Germans.
But plenty also retain Turkish citizenship, hence sundry diplomatic hoohas in recent months between the Merkel and Erdogan governments.
I’d pronounce it EYE-bairk EN-ness, but that’s probably no more than an approximation.
