How to research "Amazons"

I’m interested in reading up on archeological evicence of the “Amazons”.

I’ve twice seen the televized “Secrets of the dead” special titled Amazon Warrior Women. I found the archeological/mitochondrial sluething to be fascinating.

Last night, I also watched a brief yet thorough segment on an unknown National Geographic show about the female mummy recently found in Peru that included “masculine/warrior” burrial items. I had read many articles about this mummy, but was not aware of the sheer volume of artifacts that were bundled with her. The bundle itself was huge and heavy, and this segment is footage of them actually peeling away layer after layer of armor and weaponry and other burial items.

Anywho, I want more details, and am interested in starting a little personal research project.

Any tips/hints/thoughts?
