If a music CD has computer files on it the PC doesn’t seem to see the audio tracks. My CDROM does digital audio extraction, you just drag them onto the desktop as wavs, so can I make it see it as just an audio CD? Is there software that will do this?
I guess the best way for you to get the audio off the CD is to loop it through your sound card. I presume that you can hear this audio through your PC speakers, right? If this is the case, try pluging the AUDIO OUT of your sound card back in to the AUDIO IN and recording it as a WAV file (Music Match Jukebox is a free App which will do this for you).
Any problems with this reply, post here and I’ll try to help.
My guess is that different ripping software might work, maybe try a few different titles.
Yeah, I could do it that way, but analog? Ick.
Try using this software. It digitally rips, offers a choice of several mp3 codecs, and best of all, it’s free!
What I have to do is insert the enhanced cd, wait for it to start its stupid program, ctrl-alt-del to bring up the task manager, end the cd’s program, then use CDex to rip all but the data track.
Yeah, it’s a pain, but I have yet to find a better method. If anyone else knows of a better way, please post!
Good luck!
I’ve never had that problem. Video game cd’s often have mixed layouts.
Or are you referring to yet another fascist bid by the record companies to keep us from copying music?
The enhanced CDs have special features–usu. bonus videos, etc. As a result, the computer treats them differently.
Get a Mac.
On Macs, the CD comes up twice–one disc icon, which is an ordinary audio CD (from which you can just drag the tracks), and another disc icon, which contains all the bonus video, etc., files.
What ripping software are you using now or are you saying the OS is doing this automatically when you drag and drop the file on the desktop? The enhanced CD files should normally be seen as audio files in windows explorer. What OS and version of the OS are you using? There is a driver that you can install (which you may have already done) that will do the D&D audio file to wav trick but it may be preventing ECD file recognition. If this is installed on your system removing it may (not sure) give you ECD file recognition back.

Big list of ripping SW
Wow-I’d never heard of such a thing. And now I know why my Weird Al Yankovic Running With Scissors CD doesn’t autoplay in either of my computers … And now, to watch the Quicktime video of part of Al’s “There’s No Going Home” Disney Channel special that’s tucked away on the CD. Thanks, guys!
