I am thinking about starting a courier/delivery business in my neighborhood. How do I start the legal side of it?
Incorporate! Separate your personal assests from the business and its inherent liability by filing the proper corporate registrations with your friendly secretary of state. There are many different types of corporations and the differences relate mostly to taxation if I remember correctly, so you’ll likely want to consult an accountant and/or attorney. This is also something that many do themselves as there are about a million DIY books on this subject out there. Don’t even talk about Google . . .
After that, its all about marketing my man. That and driving like a madman and parking on the curb.

You can either set up a corporation or an LLC. Well, you don’t have to do either, but that would be safer and expose fewer of your assets to risk. In Georgia, the fee to start an LLC is $75 IIRC. An LLC requires less paperwork than a corporation and works well for small businesses. The local library probably has a few books on founding companies.
Next, you’ll have to look into what permits your company will need to do business. A visit to the local Chamber of Commerce is likely to help get advice on what sort of things you’ll need there.
And then, you just need a vehicle and customers. Finding enough of the latter may be your biggest challenge.
