How was George Santos' resume not an election issue?

I think maybe you need the indefinite article there.

So George Zardoz claims to be Batman - edgy.
Exact thing Elon wished he could have claimed.

Geez, George (or Anthony, or Kitara…) if you’re going to make up a story about being a Broadway producer, you might as well say you were producing a successful show, not a fiasco like Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark

Reminiscent of his claim to have been a volleyball player at Baruch College.

Hmm… is he Max or Leo?

I think upthread someone joked that his campaign was built on the model of The Producers. I’m starting to believe that might not be just a joke.

Why not? After all, he wrote and directed that film.

At least no one accused him of nepotism, what with Mel Brooks being his dad and all.

The real producers of that Spider-man musical are probably glad he’s taking the blame for it.

Unless you’re trying the Max Bialystock gambit.

Conspiracy theory time: They are the secret, improperly identified donors for his campaign! A few hundred thousand to rehabilitate their image so they can move on to a new Broadway Production derived from To Wong Fu based on Santos.

:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Remember that time he wrote World War Z? That was his experiences fighting zombies.

I did not expect the brazenness of his lies to surprise me any further, and indeed when he lied yesterday about Sinema saying nice things to him, I was like, “Oh, that wacky Santos.”

But it turns out he’s a puppy thief.

I did not see “literally steals puppies” in the cards.

“I have never kicked the puppies that I stole from the Amish.”

Later that day… “This video shows Santos literally kicking puppies”

There’s another shoe to drop here: he bought a bunch of puppies using bad checks, at the same time that he was running an animal rescue charity. Was he selling these purebreds under the guise of a corrupt charity? Does that count as selling stolen goods?

And it sounds like he told the police that his checkbook was stolen. Although the initial charges were dropped, could he face charges for lying to police?

Anyone mention the sexual harassment charges leveled by someone who was seeking a job in his congressional office? (Gift link to NYT article about this.)

The reality writers have really gotten lazy. This Santos character is not really believable.

At this point, we’re at the “so what” stage of Santos allegations. The lies and criminality are so cartoonishly over-the-top that any new revelation just becomes more noise. Just like with Trump, it’s hard to imagine the new revelation that would make Republicans cry out, “at long last, this is a bridge too far!”

From Amish farmers. Because when it comes to stealing puppies, go big or go home.

To be fair, Amish puppy mills don’t have the best reputation. They’re surely not all bad, and there’s an argument that the worst ones are no more inhumane than factory-farming pigs; but by itself, the fact that he’s stealing from an Amish farmer doesn’t necessarily make it worse.
