How well does an home air filter work vs. dust?

I have a small apartment that gets very dusty for no good reason, especially on the electronics and tchotchkes. It’s a severe pain to dust everything every week, and if I don’t it’s gross.

Since it’s such a small space, would an air filter do much to help?

      • It depends on which one you buy. Some are good, some are nearly worthless. Search online for info websites for people with asthma–they have results of actul laboartory tests, that show how well different air filters actually work. Some of the ones that are the most-advertised are some of the worst-performing.
