How will the Harry Potter series end?

Actually that would be “Felis Felix” “Felix Felicis” means “the lucky (one) of the the lucky (one)”. I’m betting on a spell name, if it isn’t a character.

I’m voting that “Felix Felicis” is either a spell name or a family motto (like the Blacks’ “Toujours Pur”). It sounds a bit too silly for a character name, even a Rowling-esque one.

“Spinners End” sounds like a place – maybe the Lovegood or Longbottom family home? Perhaps Harry will get invited to visit somebody new this summer.

No clue on “Draco’s Detour,” although I think it would be great if the twins waylaid him and sent him into their Vanishing Cabinet.

Well, I’m getting bored of waiting. How long is it supposed to take, anyway?

BTW: I really like Ralph Fiennes as Voldemort. I wonder if they’ll bring in his brother to play any characters. That would be cool.

However, I’m not too fond of Miranda Richardson as Rita. I like Miranda and would like to see her as someone a bit… friendlier.

Hey, Heloise.

I’m not sure, because I left the room when it happened. I think approximately 10 minutes (after the light switch is turned off, and it only workes at the door to the Room of Requirement).

I’m checking now to see if anything’s changed. I’ll get back to you after I’ve timed it.

It took 8 minutes. You don’t have to be there to watch it or anything (although it is kind of neat when it changes). The part that changes stays changed.

My two cents on what these refer to:

“Chapter 2: Spinner’s End” = Will deal with Aragog, the huge spider Rowling has Harry and Ron meet in COS. I think Ron’s going to kill her and get a little farther along in ridding himself of his fear of spiders.

“Chapter 6: Draco’s Detour” = I think that Draco’s going to have a change of heart about his views on “mudbloods.” Maybe he’ll fall in love with one, or he’ll discover that he’s got some “mudbloods” in his own past.

“Chapter 14: Felix Felicis” = This refers to Mrs. Figg and her cats, perhaps one cat in particular. I’m not sure what the cats will do, but Mrs. Figg and her cats have had increasing roles in each of the books so this is logical next step.

This is a long shot, but I think that Neville’s going to become the next DADA teacher, if he doesn’t die fighting Voldy. Don’t ask me why, but it would be just great to see him overcome his fears and find his strength and confidence. His parents, IIRC, were Aurors, so he comes from folks who are strong enough to fight.

You know, celestina, that makes sense actually. But Neville does so well in Herbology, would that mean he lost interest in it?

Well, wasn’t Neville’s character changed a lot in the last book? He seemed VERY determined and was one of the best students in Harry’s imprompto training sessions (if I’m remembering correctly). He also fought pretty well at the end there when Harry went to the ministry to ‘save’ Black. I think its entirely plausable that Neville will become the new Dark arts teacher…if he survives the next few books that is.

Personally I’m thinking there will be several matchs at the end…Ron/Hermione and Harry/Ginny is my guess. Also, I think that the final confrontation will be between Harry and Voldemort and that something similar to what happened with the wands in Goblet will happen again…but this time only one will emerge. I figure Dumbledor is a goner though…I figure he’ll get wacked in the next book, though it might be that he will still be around (sort of like Obi Wan or Yoda :)), or make a few guest appearences in the last book.

Can’t wait to find out. Originally got interested in this series by reading it to my kids…but am interested in it now for my own part.

I figure Dumbledore is a goner as well, though I suspect old age, not the Dark Arts, will finish him off. It will add a sense of normalacy.

My guess on the Weasley that will get it (yep, agree with that one) is that it will be Bill or Charley, probably Bill.

Something big will happen with Neville. Don’t know what, but she’s been setting it up since book one. I don’t think he dies.

I also figure when Voldemort used Harry’s blood to reconstruct himself, he gave himself a weakness - possibly the mortality he managed to avoid the first time around.

An alternate idea for the Petunia riddle - one of her parents was a squib, halfblood or magical. There is magic in that family somewhere other than Lily. As the halfblood/mudblood thing is become more important, that is where I’d write it.

Ron and Hermoine of course end up together (she’s been working towards that one since book one), although she may play it contrary and have them - at seventeen - leave as “just friends” with everyone knowing it won’t last. I suspect Harry will have a string of girlfriends, but not anyone serious when he graduates. He may do the Peter Parker thing - can’t get close to anyone in case they are used against me.

Sorry, Hamish, I’m not getting to the Room of requirement. Is there a particular key I’m supposed to use? I just get the door to open and show me Rowling’s office (as viewed from the ceiling).

Baker, I don’t think Neville will lose interest in Herbology. I think he can be a DADA teacher and study Herbology as a hobby, perhaps doing research into using plants to defend oneself or figuring out ways to defeat deadly plants. Rowling keeps revealing the importance of magical plants in some of the novels. In the first one plants are the first line of defense that the intrepid trio must battle. I specifically recall how plants help Harry in the fourth book too. It’ll be fun to see how Rowling develops Neville.

[spoiler]One by one we come to life,
Then side by side we wait
While our company swells in numbers
(Some come early, some come late);
And some of us may bore you,
And some of us enthral,
But you cannot choose between us
You must take us one and all.
We’ll all be bound together tightly
For we’re naught if we break free.
If you’d like some clues about us
Simply answer: WHO ARE WE?

Anyone got an answer?

Chapters.

Oops. Chapters.

Thanks, Hamish. I finally managed to get the door open, but now I can’t figure out what the stupid magnifying glass is for.

I’m still working on it, though!

Oh, also… Does it make any difference if you have the light off on the main page? I’ve waited to see if anything was different, but I’m not that patient!

Nope, I flipped it on and off a few times to check, and it doesn’t matter.
