How will the next Pope be determined? Is it like Dan Brown describes in his book?

In Dan Brown’s book, Angels & Demons, he describes a vote taken using pieces of paper, a chimney and the locking down of the Vatican… is this true or how does it work?

should answer most of your questions.

Historical account of ways in which Popes were chosen. Additional history and the four (!) ways of electing a Pope; see Part II of this latter link for the detailed process used.

Those links need a caveat. The Catholic Encyclopedia is from 1917, and many of the details of papal selection have changed since that time. Look at Universi Dominici Gregis (which is linked to on both those pages) for the current process.
