Ok, it’s a disturbing question. But it’s been kicking around ever since I saw an ultrasound. Embryos live off a yolk sac for the first few weeks. Couldja boil it? Would it be like a chicken egg in taste? Is this post the most disgusting and horrifying SDMB thread ever?
Poached, scrambled or over easy?
I was thinking your standard boiled.
Cheezus Christmas, man! Does your alphabet only contain 23 letters?
Where’s the T-M-I, man? Where’s the T-M-I?!?!
What? You don’t remember?
Oh… good one!
“Ummm…Meaty!”
Tastes like chicken.
I don’t think I had taste buds back then.
Um… we don’t have shells?
Oh God. This made me think of the pan-fried semen thread! You may just get an answer here.
A lot like blood I assume?

The yolk sac is just that, a sac. It doesn’t fill with yolk in humans. It’s a thickish membrane which (as noted above) is making a fetal blood supply, and it is involved in processing nutrients that pass THROUGH it from the maternal blood supply. It doesn’t have any nutrients or yolk itself.
It probably tastes like bloody paper.
mischievous
keep trying… like duffer said, this is not the grossest thread.
Band name!
