How would you make a good Terminator movie?

Into the Terminator-verse? I’m there.

Haven’t seen Dark Fate yet, but personally, I’d just love to see them somehow pick up where TSCC left off. (a few years later, of course)

I hadn’t realized I was inspired by that, but YEAH.

I’m of course picturing Schwarzenegger as Doc Brown.

Crazy old German scientist is an overdone trope, even if in this case it would be a crazy old Austrian scientist.

As he is going into the time machine, to kill his younger self: “Ah won’t be baaak!”

I’m going all in with Aliens - from Independence Day. Skynet (the AI) has to decide what is its actual mission: Protect earth, destroy humans, ALIENS?

A forced cooperation, a three-way free-for-all?

And a giant asteroid, and radioactive monsters :t_rex: :x:
Alright Steve, just calm down, maybe a nap would be good.

See, I was thinking more along the lines of the Rick and Morty episode with time travel - just terminators rather than snakes.

Terminator vs Predator military procedural set during the battle of Stalingrad.

Instead of sending a Terminator back to kill Sarah Connor, why not have it start a technology company to create itself and take over the world in secret.

So I guess you didn’t watch Dark Fate then? Because that’s not what happens.

Also Linda Hamilton was 28 in Terminator. Natalia Reyes was 32 in Dark Fate.

A huge plot twist at the end.

The machines have always won. The Terminator films are just different re-iterations of The Matrix for humans to live through. Or something along those lines…both films have the same basic plot–Humans vs Artificial Intelligence.

Sorry to Bother You was a Terminator film?

That’s kind of what happened in the TV show.

I think there was some comic about what would happen if Skynet finally won in the end. They end up going to space and fighting aliens.

It doesn’t really matter what iteration it takes on as long as Udo Kier is in there somehwere.

That was stupid enough in The Matrix. We don’t need another version.

And keep JJ Abrams away from the franchise!

I haven’t watched them all. Is there one set in the future, with a grizzled old battle-worn John Connor and we see Skynet send Arnie back for T1, and the good guys send him back again for T2 when the melty guy goes back? And we can see how changing the past affects the future. Maybe the continuity changes from episode to episode. A future sci-fi war movie that deals with the paradoxes of time travel and fighting battles in multiple timelines. I’d watch it.

What about something like Asimov’s Foundation series? A secret cabal that could control time was created to save humanity and all the different timelines were their attempts to protect the future. At the risk of being overly complicated you could thrown in Edge of Tomorrow and show the cabal retrying different scenarios until they get it right.

Awhile back we had a thread that pointed out that the terminators physical prowess was such that they didn’t need to build it into Arnie. Why not Betty White, or David Hyde Pierce, Christina Ricci’s Wednesday Addams? You could get really creepy.
