The name was La-a.
Bob.
Lah-ah?
If I had to guess with no clue at all, I’d guess “Lay-ah.”
As in Princess.
That’s where I’d start.
My first guess was “Lah-ah” as well.
The actual pronunciation is: LaDasha.
Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
That is absolutely hysterical.
You actually saw one with your own eyes? The Snopes board may be interested in hearing about that, as I know that name was debated there (much like the “Lemonjello/Oranjello” names that everyone knows someone who saw them somewhere).
Niiiice.
I’d permanently pronounce it:
LaHyphenAh
out of spite.
I did not see it with my own eyes but was told by my mother-in-law that they received an application at her workplace w/ that name. From how she told the story, I was under the impression that she had seen it. But now I’m doubting the veracity of the story. Still makes me laugh though.
At this point I’m suspecting that it could be one of those “just because it’s an urban legend doesn’t mean it didn’t happen at some point later” things - someone many years ago may have seen that written somewhere and thought “Cool name!” instead of “WTF?”
Yeah, we’ve had a couple of people post here about “La-a” lately. (Here’s one, and here’s another.
I’ll believe it when I see it. And I don’t believe I’ll ever see it.
I’d pronounce it “Throatwarbler Mangrove”.
I think La-a has a sister whose name is pronounced “dot,” but it’s spelled .
Totally get your mother in law to come up with some hard proof to send in to Snopes.
Is it spelled with a hyphen, an n-dash, or an m-dash?
La-a
La–a
La—a
I sorta knew someone named Lemonjello once. He was a monk one of my buddies was playing in an AD&D game.
Lana.
It’s a fill-in-the-blank right?
“Mr./Ms. Lastname”
(barring that, “L’ah” like it was “the ah” in Americanized french.)
