How's Al Franken's Senate bid going?

Hey now! Let’s not go overboard.

It’s rumored that the MN Supreme Court will release its opinion today, at 10 a.m. CDT or shortly thereafter: http://www.courts.state.mn.us/?page=230

Nope. The June 25 Opinions are posted, but not the Coleman/Franken case.

To quote elucidator: “Grumble, grumble.”

It could still theoretically come at any time, but thursday mornings are the normal dump time, so that’s why the press has been geting more antsy on those days. Thursday mornings are starting to make me feel like Charlie Brown checking his mailbox on Valentine’s Day.

Damn it, every time this thread is bumped, I get my hopes up. How hard is it to decide that the guy who got more votes is the guy who got elected?

Well, at the risk of creating a cascading storm of rehashing posts, it was apparently beyond the capabilities of the United States’ judicial system in 2000.

Ask Al Gore.

ETA: Oh, hey, look at me, I re-hashed.

My favorite line of Gore’s: “You know, in politics today, you win some, you lose some, and then there’s that little-known third alternative.”

I should have known better than to ask that…

come on guys! already!
Pistols at 20 paces, let’s be done with this.

Here’s how that’d go:

Okay, I may have been born in Minnesota, but I moved away when I was four, and I’m SICK of this Minnesota passive-aggressive, putting it off “because someones feelings might get hurt,” DELAY bullshit.

Yes, in Chicago we may be crooked, but it ain’t called “The City That Works” for NUTHIN’!

:stuck_out_tongue: That’s soooooooooooooooooooooo appropos.

KIRK: “I want that third option!”

Haha! Made Chronos look at a bump!

Seriously, though, John Cole at Balloon Juice today mentions the MSC’s delay. Nothing really new, but I like the guy and his opinions are usually worth a look.

Sunday bump so I hope no one thinks the Supreme Court made a decision on a Sunday afternoon :stuck_out_tongue:

However, Pawlenty said today that he 0intends to sign off on Franken as senator if the Minn. SC decides that way.

Notice that he said “an order” I’m afraid that he can say that even if the court supports Franken, that if there is no specific court order telling the governor to sign it that he can still stall this.

Well, by now they’ve had enough time to draft an order to order the Governor to sign the certification… or to stand on his head… or to ask for an introduction to Mark Sanford’s Argentine hottie.

He always uses the order qualifier. He has not said what he would do if the court makes its ruling without including such an order. I do not know if it would be customary to include such an order in a ruling. One would think it would not be necessary.
