How's the science in Popular Science magazine?

Yesterday, I was flipping through an issue of Popular Science at the eye doctor’s, and I found myself wondering how reliable the science in that magazine is. I didn’t see anything that seemed too dodgy (though I’m not a scientist), but I was struck by the fact that many of the ads in the back of the magazine were for, er… male enhancement products and the like. (It was kind of like prehistoric spam, in a way.) For me it compromised the overall credibility of the magazine in a big way. Still, I’m curious what knowledgeable Dopers have to say. So say away!

FWIW, Popular Mechanics has the same stupid ads in it, as do many other magazines. I wouldn’t necessarily judge the magazine by the ads in the back, they have to make a living.

I would definitly go with Scientific American. PS used to be my mag of choice for flights but it won’t even get you to California from Georgia. PS might be good for puddle hopping.
