Every day, I receive about 5 to 10 calls on the dedicated fax line and get the same error message on the machine, “No fax detected.”
Any time anyone I know is sending me a fax, it works perfectly.
Even when others send me faxes I am not expecting, it works fine.
I just find it hard to believe that someone I know is trying unsuccessfully to send me a fax that frequently and failing to let me know there’s a fax problem.
What it might be is that someone is trying to dial into your fax line with a modem , not realizing its a fax , so it dials in , starts the hand shake and then oh oh , not a modem.
Put a phone will caller ID in between the plug and the fax and when the number appears, call them back and ask why they don’t want to fax you something.
Try registering that number with the National Do-Not-Call list. I’ve had HP all-in-one machines, and if there’s no fax there, the machine won’t pick up. I’ve also had problems with telemarketers calling fax lines not realizing they’re fax lines.
