There is a letter that looks like an o with a line over it in the romanized version of some Japanese words. Does anyone know either what that letter is called, so I can Google the question of its HTML code, or what the actual code is?
TIA.

This what you’re looking for?
An o with a macron. The page has HTML and Unicode info down below.
It can be tricky to type sometimes on some systems. If you can’t get it, people use the alternatives such as: o with circumflex (ô), or else use two letters. Depending on the Romanization you use, this is either “ou” or “oo”, dependend OR just “oo”. The former is more true to how the characters would be written, and it is always pronounced as a long “o”, not “ooh”.
Yup, that is indeed it – O with a macron. (It wasn’t on my usual code cheat sheet, and since I didn’t know “macron” I couldn’t figure out how to look it up.)
Many thanks!
