Bricker is such a tool! I can’t believe he vetoed a bill like that!
What?
Not Bricker?
Oh. Nevermind then … Bricker is not a tool.
But what about that Huckabee dude–cite for the bill veto and reasons why?

I don’t believe Huckabee ‘misspoke’ because of the elaboration, and find that statement dishonest for a ‘family values’ guy. He’s a minister, too, ferchristssake.
In my mind, this makes him an opportunistic liar.
So, I wouldn’t vote for him based on this event alone. Plus, I don’t care for his other positions.
Mike is a good ol’ boy.
Bless his heart.

The first Google response for “huckabee act of god” gives you this New York Times article.
Unfortunately, that’s all I can offer to this debate. Other than, wow, he had me fooled, and I still think he was better than our current governor.

Wow, what a colossal asshole. I always though Huckabee was closer to sane than that.
At least Huck didn’t say, “I can see [del]Kenya[/del] [del]Indonesia[/del] from Arkansas.”
(Yes, I know S.P. didn’t say it either)
Mikey did grow up around scouts, Rotary Clubs, and virulent racists. How is that better than Hawaii? (Wait, have you seen the new Hawaii 5-O; nothing but gunfire, explosions, kidnapping, and mayhem - No wonder Obama has all those violins inside of him [nod to E. LaT.]).
I spent about as much time outside the US as Obama did when I was growing up. I still somehow managed to be a Boy Scout and never acquired a hatred for America, even though I spent a couple of formative years in sub-Saharan Africa.

And they fucked up the theme song. There are some things you just don’t mess with.
I think you folks are being harsh on Huckabee. Its not like he can just come out and say he doesn’t trust Obama because he is black, now can he?

Why not? I’m not sure it would decrease his appeal at all.
Lamont Washington would have been the only man to actually say “Mau Mau” to my face, but he died in 1968.
Huckabee is amazingly out of touch.

That’s because the Rotary Clubs have offices in every city of pretty much any size in the world, as long as it has a business community, and the Boy Scouts have branches all over the world, too. In fact, there are well overtwiceas many Scouts in Indonesia as in America, despite the fact that the two countries are roughly the same in population.
Yeah. Nazi-Muslim-Socialist-Kenyan scouts!
Has anyone checked their DNA to see if they are actually Obama clones?
The problem is in gratuitously and falsely associating it with Obama. Surely you understand that. The subliminal message is that Barack Obama is an exotic, violent, black African, spear carrying, face-painted other. I know you’re perfectly capable of hearing dog whistles. Don’t play dumb.
I agree there is absolutely no reason to associate it with Obama.
Wow, what a colossal asshole. I always though Huckabee was closer to sane than that.
Think again. Huckabee from 2008:
(Some of my opponents) do not want to change the Constitution, but I believe it’s a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living God, and that’s what we need to do is to amend the Constitution so it’s in God’s standards rather than try to change God’s standards,”
What a difference perspective makes. If Pete Stark (an atheist member of congress) objected to the phrase “act of god” in preference for “act of nature” in a piece of legislation, I daresay many people decrying Huckabee would praise Stark.
Not defending Huckabee here, nor chanting ha-ha hypocrites! Just making a sociological observation.
Is “act of god” in contractual or legislative language a linguistic idiom or a distant shade of ceremonial deism?
I still think he was better than our current governor.
He tried to let insurance companies cancel after tornadoes. Beebe lowered the sales tax on groceries. Not a tough call for me.
Yeah. Nazi-Muslim-Socialist-Kenyan scouts!
I’d like to see the list of merit badges for that one.

How is this a difference in perspective?
