I don’t believe Huckabee ‘misspoke’ because of the elaboration, and find that statement dishonest for a ‘family values’ guy. He’s a minister, too, ferchristssake.
In my mind, this makes him an opportunistic liar.
So, I wouldn’t vote for him based on this event alone. Plus, I don’t care for his other positions.

Unfortunately, that’s all I can offer to this debate. Other than, wow, he had me fooled, and I still think he was better than our current governor.

I spent about as much time outside the US as Obama did when I was growing up. I still somehow managed to be a Boy Scout and never acquired a hatred for America, even though I spent a couple of formative years in sub-Saharan Africa.

I think you folks are being harsh on Huckabee. Its not like he can just come out and say he doesn’t trust Obama because he is black, now can he?

That’s because the Rotary Clubs have offices in every city of pretty much any size in the world, as long as it has a business community, and the Boy Scouts have branches all over the world, too. In fact, there are well overtwiceas many Scouts in Indonesia as in America, despite the fact that the two countries are roughly the same in population.

What a difference perspective makes. If Pete Stark (an atheist member of congress) objected to the phrase “act of god” in preference for “act of nature” in a piece of legislation, I daresay many people decrying Huckabee would praise Stark.
Not defending Huckabee here, nor chanting ha-ha hypocrites! Just making a sociological observation.
Is “act of god” in contractual or legislative language a linguistic idiom or a distant shade of ceremonial deism?
He tried to let insurance companies cancel after tornadoes. Beebe lowered the sales tax on groceries. Not a tough call for me.
