Not, of course, that Huckabee’s saying that Obama went to a madrassa (he didn’t). He’s just saying that that he, Huckabee, didn’t grow up in a neighborhood with any. Any other inferences you may take from that statement are entirely unintended.
I do hope Huckabee runs in '12. For sheer entertainment value, he’s going to be priceless.
Ask and you shall receive.
Barbour claims Obama admin wants gas prices to go up
Did Barbour provide the media with copies of the emails, memos, wiretap transcripts to back up this startling revelation?
Will Obama now be impeached for this dastardly deed? It’s not enough that Obama’s a white-hating-christian, muslim, Nazi, Socialist, Communist, Kenyan, Liberal; now he’s in bed with the oil companies.
Another barrage emails coming from my right wing brethern about how Obama is screwing REAL Americans - sigh.
Except for the part where he said it wouldn’t.
Matthew 5:17-19
I’ll go with contractual obligation , and book promotion. After his rant about Muslims in a Christian church the other day I said it was just another contrived controversy for Fox. Same with this Kenya thing.
He told BillO that he had done a bunch of media interviews that day and it was just a slip. It’s not a slip when you’re also talking about Obama’s father and grandfather, and making some ignorant anti-colonialism remark. It’s another contrived controversy for Fox and lots of Media attention for Huckabee and his new book.
I had some respect for Huckabee when he defended Wright during that controversy. It appears now though that working for Fox has altered his priorities. Bullshit is perfectly acceptable if it means translates into dollars. Too bad.
I don’t put that anywhere near the Huckabee comment, but rather the typical claim made by politicians of both stripes about the motivations of the other side.
Huckabee’s quote was an outright fabrication. Something that is demonstrably false. Barbour’s comments are opinions about the effects of certain policies, which could, in fact, be correct.
Barbour also bitched about the Obama administration wasting 15 months on the Health Care bill after bitching and moaning about how it had been rammed down our throats. So, basically, fuck him, he’s a double talking bag-o-douche.
So to sum up, Huckabee claimed that Obama was shaped by:
The grandfather and the father he met once
The country he didn’t live in
The rebellion his family didn’t take part in and has never mentioned
The madrassa he didn’t go to.
Forced to backtrack, he then claimed he meant to refer to another country which was almost completely around the world away from where the rebellion took place and wasn’t colonized by the same power.
Other than that, he’s bang on.
Not, of course, that I’m saying that Huckabee routinely receives envelopes full of small unmarked bills from corporate lobbyists. I’m just saying that I, SteveMB, don’t.
All Huckabee’s audience knows about the Mau Mau rebellion is that Obama is supports it, which means it must be bad, which then enforces a feed back loop of Obama being bad for supporting it.
You can do the same thing with anything:
- Glenn beck announces that Obama has been seen reading the Illiad
- Fox viewers assume that Homer must be a Nazi, Socialist, Muslim or else Obama wouldn’t read him.
- Fox viewers use as proof of Obama’s Nazi, Socialist, Muslim tenancies the fact that he reads Homer.
Well, see, some gay guys are really hairy and kinda overweight…Mike especially doesn’t like them…
What policies? Obama’s policy of having citizens of middle eastern countries rise up against their leaders, which has led to the recent increase in the price of crude because of uncertainty?
Barbour is simply an ass.
You could say he misspoke…out of his ass.
Wasn’t the Mau Mau also in the 50s? Yeah, I’m still drawing on Magnum PI information here.
Actually, I didn’t know what it was and my first thought was it sounded vaguely Asian.
So what’s the problem, then? They’d be right: it WAS black, African, and violent.
Congratulations, you’ve summed up the twenty-first century.
Let’s just skip ahead to the twenty-second.
That would backfire if they mentioned “Homer” - Fox viewers would immediately think that “reading Homer” involved Obama reading Simpsons comics.
The problem is in gratuitously and falsely associating it with Obama. Surely you understand that. The subliminal message is that Barack Obama is an exotic, violent, black African, spear carrying, face-painted other. I know you’re perfectly capable of hearing dog whistles. Don’t play dumb.
Perhaps **Dio **misspoke there. He should have said, “black, African and mindlessly violent such as to put the fear of God in every white person on earth.”
I can attest that it means exactly that to a number of my close relatives. I’ve actually heard it used in that fashion.
