Well, I did answer the poll, I think it’s inevitable, given the advances made in understanding genetics, fertility treatments etc. Probably using IVF with the resulting creature implanted in a host mother’s uterus. I have a feeling along the lines of "when something can be done, it will be, eventually. (Not saying it’s a good idea, not something I’d ever do.)
The interesting question is whether such a creature would be human and what rights it would have. I suspect that a humazee would have low intelligence, and would need to be protected from exploitation. Much the same as a ‘pure’ human with a learning or developmental disability. If this is the case, I think it should have the same rights as any human. They are not slaves, not to be tortured or experimented on. They should not be regarded as ‘disposable’. I think this was explored pretty well in Heinlein’s “Jerry was a man.”
