RAIL police were flapping when they found small pebbles and gravel on stretches of North-east railway sleepers. But you could have knocked them down with a feather when they discovered the bird-brained culprits were crows! … It turns out the crows know exactly what they’re doing. They place the stones on the tracks, wait for trains to run over them, then swallow the debris, which helps them digest their food.

dosen’t really surprise me, that whole family of birds is very intellegent. I think its either crows or ravens in cities have learned to drop nuts on the road and wait for cars to run them over so they can eat the meat.

I saw a news story somewhere on the net about crows placing nuts in the street and waiting for a car to run over it, then eating the meat. Can’t seem find it now though.
