The general level of health, of the population as a whole, will worsen as people pursue ever more unhealthy and lazy lifestyles. This trend can be difficult to plot statistically e.g. we all tend to live longer these days than previous generations, but more of us are obese, more of us get cancer etc.
The commercial incentive to cater for lazier and lazier lifestyles will never go away, and only intensify. Hence the trends we see today to provide for fast food, computer games, endless TV, instant everything, no-effort everything, will simply increase.
General standards of intellectualism will decline. Literacy and numeracy are hard ones to call - people are far better educated today than they were 100 or 200 years ago. But we may be turning the curve, and actually entering a phase when literacy and numeracy will decline.
The general trend of social values will be towards greater tolerance, freedom and acceptance, and less restriction, censure or ‘disapproval’.
Levels of crime will increase, and the policing and crimnal justice systems will cope less and less well with this trend.
The divide between the haves and have-nots will increase.
Technological advances will bring many benefits, but with attendant costs and drawbacks that are usually not obvious at first.
Man’s greatest achievement by 3000 will be to buck any of these trends.
