We have not been there that often, but went up there for the transit of Venus and there were a few people with good telescopes who were letting folks have a look.

Never been there, camped in the NP though. Still feel a bit sad about it. Those old NP/NF lodges are just great examples of the way things used to be built.
I remewber going up there as a young’n, picnicking in a meadow, and my dad was going on about hearing pikas. We stayed in Hoh – dad figured everybody else would be home watching Apollo 11 so we would get a primo spot. I ended up following it on the radio. Then we went to one of those beaches that you have to hike half a mile to get to and my brother found a Der Spiegel in the sand that included a story about the astronaut isolation chamber.
