Hypermiliagers please chime in

I’ve looked into it on various sites and always found amazing the claimed MPG increase over what should be expected. It goes into various methods, most of the time it says that they don’t recommend drafting larger vehicles due to safety reasons. The thing is I really wouldn’t expect those claimed increase without drafting.

So it gets me to wonder if the ‘don’t draft’ notes are like the ‘don’t try this at home’ but basically if you hypermilage you will be drafting, though you are not ‘soppose to’ or are just accepting the increased risk?

So how much drafting is part of it?

I once drafted a semi nearly all the way across New Mexico and found the benefits were outweighed by the negitives.

I did get a very small MPG increase (less than .5mpg), but it was a rough ride due to the turbulant air, had to slow down more often than I cared to due to terrain and it was hard on the nerves. I was *real close *to this guy.

I could have done better just by slowing down. But what fun is that?
