hypnotherapy

I know people who have done hypnotherapy to quit smoking. Would hypnotherapy help for other mental ailments like laziness and ADD?

If the subject is susceptible to placebo drugs, then perhaps.

You need to distinguish between biochemical illnesses and issues which are problems of cognition (i.e. those which can be solved through cognitive therapies). You can see the ADD deficits on a brain scan. Not so with laziness. You’re asking whether diabetes can be cured with hypnotherapy. The answer is no.

Type II diabetes is often caused by being overweight

  • being overweight is often caused by overeating

I’m a little confused on what the answer to my question is. Let me provide a little more background info. I have a hard time finishing what I start. It’s because I lose interest and look for something more interesting. I go gung ho on the new interest and the cycle repeats. I’m guessing the cause is I’m easily distracted or lazy. Is this a condition that can be corrected by hypnotherapy? I’ll even try meds if it’ll help.

You would try Hypnotherapy before medication?! :smack:

If you are comparing ADD/ADHD to Laziness, it is apparent you have no Idea what ADD/ADHD is.

Buy ANY book on ADHD and find out if you have it. This would cost probably 10-25 bucks.

After that, decide if you need to throw away the rest of your money on hypnotherapy.

Also, it’s commonly held that hypnotherapy can not make you do something you would not normally want to do in the first place. Therefore, if you assume that to be true, hypnotherapy would not work in this case.
