Hypothetical battle at the Tomb of Imam Hussein

Thanks - that’s what I feared. There is so much to lose and so little to gain by taking military action against this guy in this manner and it’s just a matter of time before some typical war SNAFU leads to a bomb or shell going into the place, no matter what standing orders there may be.

Hell, all Al-Q need to do is smuggle in a bomb - no-one will believe the US weren’t responsible.

Alde, my warning related to the strict rules here about wishing death on others. You are a valued member of these boards and it would be a shame to lose you - that is why I wished calmness and peace upon you.

Aldebaran, we Christians can relate to your anger. You may remember a couple years back the Israelis had some Palestinians cornered in the Church of Jesus’ Nativity in Bethlehem.

In my opinion those rules are to be taken as wishing harm to members of the board (Any moderator at hand to clear that up? Thank you)

I have a discussion with one of the moderators about this, in the sense that I was accused to “threaten” someone while there was not even remotely something there to form “a threat”.
I seems that I am considered to be scum, be it that this person said to have seen already MUCH greater scum. I am considering to make that my signature.

So in any case it shall not come as a surprize to me when a given day I see “BANNED” under my membername for “reasons” that are as misty to me as the accusation of that moderator and the fact that I am scum.

(muttering) Drama queen!

Nobody, or at least nobody whose opinion counts, has called you a scum, aldeb! Notional*, perhaps. Liable to go off half-cocked**, maybe. Bullheaded*** at times, certainly. But not scum.

** - act prematurely or without reflection or too soon; “she wanted to quit her job but her mother told her not to go off half-cocked”

*** - [adj] stupidly stubborn

mmm… You forgot an explaining link to “drama queen”…

And I have now the most solid proof that you don’t have acces to my email  Where the confirmation of my remarkable good reading of a certain post came. However with therein added - to my great consolation - that the person who came to this truly amazing conclusion has seen already MUCH greater scum… (That explaining footnote is why I think about making this enlighting statement my sig.)

Paul in Saudi, you’re recalling the story recounted in the Qu’ran as ‘The Elephant’. Basically the gist of it indeed could be taken to be that Allah will protect that which is His. In this context it would need more

I think what can reasonably said about the hypothetical situation here has already been said by Aldebaran. What is frightening is that i know many otherwise very calm muslims, who get very angry at the thought of damage to the shrines. Currently though, they’re more angry at the clerics who are abusing the name of Imam Hussein in the quest for their own earthly power.

I think the coalition is smart enough to know that there are certain things that you cannot realisticly touch without giving the wrong image, no matter how justified you may be on the facts. Any one deployed to cities like Karbala, especially I hope senior commanders, would probably be briefed on the exact signifcance of the shrine. Let us hope this stays a hypothetical
