Hypothetical - taking technology to the past

I thought this would be interesting… If you could take any piece of technology from today and bring it back to when you were around 10 years old (old enough to remember but young enough that it was still a few years ago) in order to show it off, what would impress the most?

Include the year you would be going back to (or decade, if you are bashful), and why you think it would impress. Thanks!

Let’s see. I turned ten years old in 1973.

I think I’d take my iPhone back. It contains music, cartoons, artwork, my artwork, games, language-learning aids… but it’s surprising how much is on the phone that would stop working because there’s no network to connect it to. (Somewhere in 1973, I’m sure there are wired IP networks, but I don’t even want to think about how many generations back they would be. Or whether anyone in Canada outside of a few universities had access to them.)

My personal computer. “Pong? Pong?! Watch this!!

Yeah, I think of all the technology today, cellphones are the most immediately impressive to the average person. Even though back in the early 80s there wouldn’t be a network to connect to, I could attempt to explain to my 10 year old self that in the future! I can use it as a phone to talk to anyone I want, read pretty much any book, and watch videos that other people made. Even without internet connectivity cellphones are pretty impressive, it’s a small pocket-sized object that can display colors and tell the time and even take your picture, like a polaroid camera!

To answer my own question - If I were to go back to 1996 (not very far, I know) I’d probably take Watson, the computer from Jeopardy. At that point in time computers were around, but I could point to Watson and say “Look what they will become!” All of that information that you can find so quickly. Plus I’d get the added bonus of bring back not yet discovered information.

Plus at that point in time there were already cell phones Though they were on the larger size and not used nearly as much.
