Hypothetical test to get gun license

Lets say that Congress passes a bill that declares that people must pass a 10 question test before they can receive a gun license. What questions do you think should be on that test?

The first thing I’d demand is more questions! But the California Basic Firearms Safety Certificate test is a start.

Let’s stick with the hypothetical, o.k.? What specific questions would you want on this ten question test?

[ol][li]Have you read the Constitution?[/li][li]What other rights require a test before they are exercised?[/li][li]Are you now, or have you ever, been a member of the Communist Party?[/li][li]How many abortions have you or your current partner had?[/li][li]Do you have children in your home?[/li][li]Do you have a swimming pool?[/li][li]What crimes have you committed for which you were not convicted?[/li][li]What are the names and addresses of all your acquaintances who have been convicted of a violent crime?[/li][li]Do you, or anyone else in your household, suffer from Asperger’s Syndrome?[/li][li]Essay: Describe, in twentyfive words or less, why you should be allowed to exercise your rights under the Constitution.[/ol]All questions must be answered, under penalty of perjury.[/li]

Nobody is forcing you to participate in this thread.

One possible:
What’s the first rule of gun safety? (Assume it’s loaded.)

What are the laws for concealed carry in your state?
What are the laws for open carry in your state?

In this state, under what conditions are you allowed to use your gun in self defense?
In this state, under what conditions are you allowed to lend your gun to anyone else?

You are quite correct - I did so of my own free will. You asked

and got a bulleted list of ten.

Count your blessings - at least I didn’t try to talk about what kinds of tests they would devise on FreeRepublic.

Good ones.

IF we ever get to the point where a citizen needs to get firearm license for all guns, answering a few questions seems like a bad idea.

What I would really prefer, if it ever gets to that unlikely point, would be a simple gun safety class. Preferably taught by professional instructors or the local sheriff’s dept. Similar to the Concealed Carry program in most states.

Yes…but let’s stick withthis particular hypothetical situation for now. If such a test were required, are there any questions you would like to see on this hypothetical test?

In this state, are you aware of any local restrictions to gun use?
In this state, what are the “peaceable journey” laws?
In this state, how old do you have to be to own a firearm?

What is your name? What is your quest? What is the air speed velocity of an unladen 9mm round?

Thank You!

  1. Is it a Constitutionally guaranteed right to own a firearm or a privilege to be granted at the discretion of government?
  2. Do you want to be a plaintiff in the test case the NRA is bringing in an attempt to strike down this requirement to pass a test to exercise your Constitutional right?

Done in two.

What do you mean? Kurz or Parabellum?

African or is mm like metric or something?

This isn’t a gun rights debate.

Do you know how to clean a gun?
