Hypothetical: The Electoral College overturns election, says Clinton won

I don’t know how Trump managed this, but this is playing exactly into his hands.

Unless it will be eventually proven (and come on, no one serious believes it will be) that Russians actually hacked/altered the results of the election, all that there is are, at worst, allegations that Russian government got hold of and released DNC emails and/or published fake stories on the Internet. And even that is highly unlikely to ever be traced to the Russian government, even if true. Russians are not stupid.

And of course, no way will it ever be found (and I really don’t believe it actually happened) that Trump in any way coordinated any of it. In spite of the silliness about the “Trump server communicating with Russia”.

Meantime, a lot of people on the left are riled up beyond belief at this and will expend enormous emotional and physical efforts protesting it and propagating it, while the rest of the country doesn’t care.

It is yet another “squirrel!” moment in the long series of such moments. As I said, I don’t know if Trump is instigating this himself, but he is certainly a master of exploiting such things to his advantage.

A more interesting question is what Hillary would do if suddenly elected December 19.

I assume she hasn’t had any transition work done since the election and would have to rely to great extent on current Obama staff. Many of those folks, no doubt, have found positions elsewhere.

Could be a real scramble.

If a candidate wins popular vote in a state is the electoral college person for that state supposed to vote for that winner of the popular vote. Sounds like yes. If the electoral college person does not then there should be an automatic recount of the popular vote. What to do if the electoral person voted opposite the popular vote.
Do we need a law covering this type of behavior?
As a 66 y/o retired mother, I have taught my children the rules that should apply to ANY society you can call them the Ten Commandments or the rules that the Koran teaches, I take they have similar rules. Name any religion and surly they have similar rules for that society to continue to exist.
I am not a card carrying KKK member, white nationalist wackadoo as u call them, they are entitled to their opinion, but with out the violence because then they are no better then Isis.
But should I find out that the electoral college person’s vote does not reflect the popular vote of the state they represent, I will protest, non-violently, any way I can. I would even carry a sign and march if that became necessary.

I have no evidence, but I suspect she has made out a list of tentative candidates for Cabinet positions, just in case.

I’d be surprised if she didn’t have a vetted list of candidates and alternates together long before the election. She’s the hyper-prepared one, remember?

She’s probably been working on her Cabinet list since at least 1992.

There’s no way for them to do so under the given scenario.

The election of 1876 would like to have a word with you.
