I almost trapped myself in my basement tonight

I was moving the futon and frame down to the basement so we can sleep down there during the heatwave, and I almost managed to get the frame wedged so solidly into the stairway that I couldn’t get it up, down, or get up the stairs around it myself - a very Douglas Adams moment. In case you’re wondering why Jim wasn’t helping me, it’s because I do stupid things like this when there’s no one around to tell me not to do stupid things like this. You’d think I would learn, but no, not really. Just wanted to share that.

Oh, I hate that feeling you get when you realize that you may have trapped yourself somewhere. I know it’s not the same thing, but I have managed to almost trap myself in public washrooms. I lock the door, and upon trying to unlock it. I just seemingly can’t get it open. Of course, so far I have opened the door eventually, otherwise I wouldn’t be here. (I’d be lying insensible/dead on a public bathroom floor somewhere by now) No wonder sometimes I get a mild form of claustrophobia.

F_X

Mmm…once I went to a high school I was unfamiliar with to take my SATIIs. Since I had no idea where my room was and the school had neglected to post any signs or anything to help the scores of lost kids anxious about their testing, I ended up walking through a door that let me open it but locked as it closed. Boy was I mad…ended up wasting 15 minutes there as I pounded the door and shouted for SOMEONE TO OPEN THIS %@#*! DOOR!! I missed one of my tests but no big deal

I just hate the idea of getting trapped somewhere and no real way to get out. shudder

Yeah, I’m a claustrophobe too - I was suprised at how un-freaked out I was when I thought I couldn’t get out. Maybe I was so mad at myself for doing something so stupid that it cancelled out the anxiety.
