You think Hoagy Carmichael is sauve?
This gets trotted out again and again by Craig fans. “But Bond is supposed to look like Hoagy Carmichael!”
Daniel Craig doesn’t look like Hoagy Carmichael. He has a square, pockmarked face, a thick nose and weird lips. There is absolutely nothing about this picture that makes me think of Daniel Craig.
Hoagy was a handsome dude. Craig doesn’t look like him.

Sure the people on IMDB are idiots. I won’t debate that.
But idiots’ reaction to public news is not to be discounted. Even idiots can tell if someone is ugly.
None of the idiots on Pierce Brosnan’s forum are saying that he is ugly.

I’ve encountered a number of Russian thugs, and he doesn’t look the type at all.
Daniel Craig is uglyhot and most women I’ve talked to seem to agree. They’re also excited about the new Bond-- even the ones (myself included) who’ve never really cared for the series.

For my money, Casino Royale has already been done, and with such sublime perfection that all subsequent Bond movies were pointless.*
And violated continuity. 
*Unless the point of the Bond movies was simply to make a bucketload of money, of course.
I liked Brosnan as an actor, but IMHO he only got two decent scripts (the first two). And I’d agree that a toning down of the gadgetry is in order. After you get to “invisible car,” where is there to go?

I’ve seen it. I enjoyed it. I laughed my butt off. I can’t make those statements about any other Bond flick I’ve ever encountered.
I understand. I thought you were one of the die hard Bond folks being goofy.
Oops. that should read “I can’t make those last two statements about any other Bond flick I’ve ever encountered.” Of course I’ve seen other Bond flicks. I just didn’t think they were worthwhile.
Enough of my threadshitting. If they want a Q for their Bond movies, they can hire John deLancie. That’s really all I have to contribute.

I too am looking forward to less gadgets. The Bond movies seem to be as different from the novels as the Matt Helm movies were from the Matt Helm novels. And make no mistake, Helm from the novels could kick Bond’s ass.
I don’t think Carmichal is handsome or ugly, just a normal looking guy. Maybe this Craig guy can bring it off.
I wonder if they will keep the last line from the novel.

Except that Llewelyn died before the last Brosnan film, Die Another Day. Q was played in that one by John Cleese, who was introduced in the prior film.
This is another casting choice I was disappointed in. She might be a good actress, of course; I’ve not seen her in any other movies. But looks-wise, meh. Not up to the usual Bond Girl standards at all.
