It would be better if it were an old ratty sweater.
Here ya go, with thanks to imageshack.
And my other rat, Asher:
He looks too embarassed to come out in a couple.
And that Asher fella is a cutie!
I can’t see the pictures! Wah!!
Here, I’ve copied some of them to my server temporarily.
Thank you!
That’s some cute ratties. I like the lion do. Rarr!
Awwww, how adorable! MY babies have that same waffle house in their cage!! XD
Andygirl- those are some nice looking rats! I can see you’ve got them in a nice cage, with great “nesting areas”. You’re spoiling them very well. It looks like Asher is a rex, but I’m not sure- are his/her whiskers curly? I had a rat or two with curly whiskers and hair, I thought it was cool. It’s a fairly harmless mutation, and I think it looks snazzy. Both of your rats are a very nice color as well.
I was told Asher was a dumbo when I got her, but I’m not sure. And she has curly whiskers, which I adore.
They’re in two different cages and have never actually met on account of the boy/girl thing and the fact that Tweek has lice. Mixing just wouldn’t bode well, ya know? Asher’s cage is bigger- Tweek’s is only two stories, but he’s lethargic so it works out. I dig them both a lot. Tweek is great to just pet; Asher loves running around like she’s spring-loaded or something.
Aww! They’re so cute!
Once, several years ago, when the NinjaPooch was no longer the NinjaPup, but not yet the elderly, dignified (snerk) dog she is today, she decided to get into a fight. With a cat. With a rather small but aggressive stray cat. And she proceeded to get her butt kicked, rather literally. A day later, I discovered a big clump of matted fur and blood on her rump-al area, right above her tail. We whisked her off to the vet, and in order to properly clean her battle wound, he had to shave the area.
So, for several weeks, my dog (who’s got medium-to-long hair) had this big shaved patch right above her butt. I’m pretty sure she was more humiliated by that than by the “I got whupped by a cat” thing.
Same old story. Send a nice moral rat from a good family off to college and the next thing you know it’s naked and pictures are being posted on the internet. I blame Joe Francis.
Asher definitely looks like a dumbo to me. I thought “what a cute dumbo” when I saw the pic.
And yeah, curly whiskers/fur means rex. I have a female fawn rex veriberk named Ginger.
That’s kinda what I thought too. Only, not so much “dumbo” as in “got that perpetual amazed-baby look”. Like although Asher’s body will grow up she’ll always have the “Oo pretty pretty!” expression on her face.
Tweek on the other hand looks like he new darn well you were posting nudie pics of him on the net and was shy about it.
My dog had surgery on his CCL two weeks ago, so he’s been holding his foot in the air.
We’ve been calling him Tripod.
I tried to tell him he looks cool with his rear quarter panel shaved, but he ain’t buying it.
Our dog blew out both CCL’s 8 weeks apart summer before last. She had a small strip of fur down her back to her tail - the rest of her rear end was shaved down to her ankles. We called her “chicken leg girl” for a while…
Dude, your rats are cool (hair or no)! Wish I could have some, but alas, too many cats…
Curly whiskers is rex? I am enlightened.
On reflection, I am afraid I have a history of this- when my cat dislocated its leg and had to wear a full leg cast, my family and I called him Gimpy.
Don’t ask me why, but Tweek still likes me. The rat has no taste in people.
Cute! I am disappointed that he wasn’t wearing the pom-pom footy sock.
Rat porn, heh.
I’m going to have to show these to my hubby. He was telling me he used to have a pet rat when he was a kid.
Well, there are curly genes and rex genes, but I think they’re pretty much the same. You can see in Ginger’s pic that her fur is also ruffly/curlyish, and sometimes rexes can even look like they have bald patches. Is the fur like that? Ginger’s fur is a little course feeling, it’s not flat and smooth like my regular coats.
There are also satins, velveteens, and a bunch of other fancy stuff I don’t know much about.
Double rex is, I believe, the (or one of) the varieties of hairless rats. They usually have fur until they’re about 2 months old and then it starts falling out. Sometimes they grow patchy fur but it always falls back out again. I’m not a big fan of hairless rats though so I’m not 100% sure on that, just what I’ve come across reading.
It’s pretty easy to find info on the genetics if you’re curious, just do a Google search.
