I have an excuse for avoiding the news today and not getting constant updates and speculations about who’s going to win. I’m leaving for a trip at 4:30 tomorrow morning, and I need to finish packing and then get to bed early. I’m hoping that while I’m at the airport waiting for my flight I can avoid having to listen to the airport TV’s, which will no doubt be on a news channel.
And it will probably be FOX, so not a news channel. Happy trails and safe travels.
Woke up feeling pretty anxious, then went to drop off my ballot and the car wouldn’t start. Anxiety doubled thanks to a dead battery, probably caused by Republicans. Thankfully, AAA is here and taking care of everything. My vote will not be denied!

What I’m dreading is the next 4 weeks up until December 6th, then the next 4 weeks until Jan 6th.
i.e. I expect Harris will have a win that by normal standards would be clean and uncontested, but there will be degrees of lawfare and legislative fuckery that frankly none of us will have imagined possible.
Imagine you’re Thomas or Alito who faces a small but real chance of having your corruption exposed, of being held to an ethical standard, or court-packed into irrelevance. We’ve already seen what they’ll do just for pure ornery cussedness, but when their actual safety is on the line, what would they NOT be willing to do? That list is short and possibly empty.
