Why would the management of a motel require an angry political talk channel (to me, that’s what OANN is) to be the only channel shown in the breakfast area?
It’s brilliant really… put on OANN and people will either leave or lose their appetite. Suddenly food costs are down 90%!
Because the management is trying to push right wing political propaganda on people. Happens all the time in all sorts of businesses.
Especially with McDonalds, where FOX was the only option there.
All of my worrying about election shenanigans, and it came down to Trump keeping all but 3 million of his 2020 voters, in the right places, while Harris lost 13 million of Biden’s 2020 voters, in the wrong places. People just didn’t turn out enough for her.
IMO this is all on the media, they did an astonishing job of burying Trump’s negatives. For the life of me I will never understand how the fourth estate turned out to be such a bunch of turncoats for Trump. I guess you can only be an unappreciated, unfunded, underdog profession for so long before it makes sense to just stop fighting it and sell out.
The media is overwhelmingly controlled by a handful of right wing corporations and billionaires, that’s what. The talking heads will say what they are ordered to say or be fired.
Yes but it seems to have become a lot more of that in just the past 2 years. I can’t remember seeing it like this since like the 1980’s, and I don’t think it was as egregious back then.
It’s astounding. The GOTV ground game supporting her was huge, well funded, well executed, and efficiently distributed. And, she did as well a job as is possible “introducing” herself to voters, and genuinely came across as likable and competent to so many of them.
You were right.
She suffered from the handicap of being both a woman and non-white, which apparently outweighed that.
Agree. Also the fear based talk radio programming is whipping some folks into a frenzy.
It’s really toxic.
And there is nothing we can do about any of it.
Personally, I never cared for such audio junk, because I never thought it was news to begin with-- I felt, every time I heard it, that they were trying to make me agree, and that’s why I’ve always preferred sports radio (or actual news radio) over anything like that.
AM radio has been mostly right wing propaganda for a long time, most of the AM stations nationwide were bought up specifically for that purpose. There used to be more moderate and left people, but their stations were bought and they were fired.
At least one layer of dread has been removed now. Others remain, of course, due to the results, but they were there anyway, so every bit helps.
We didn’t have an Internet back then (not like we do now, anyway) and some Dopers may indeed remember the brief “equal time” era. I remember that CNN would always counter their opinions with the biggest RWNJ they could find. The most common commentator I remember was Reed Irvine, who founded a group that I always called “Inaccuracy in Media.”
