But the real purpose of all the lawsuits is to bring the prosecutions, and indeed the government of Harris herself, to a massive halt. If she wins expect a massive Republican campaign pointing out that she isn’t accomplishing what she said she would. It will be yet another case of Republicans screaming that the Democratic car doesn’t run, while those same Republicans are pouring sugar in the gas tank.
That’s been their MO since 2009. Same old tired playbook.

I admit it, I tried to take that sort of approach in 2016 (not sure about the “smart people,” but definitely the rest of it). At least, I can remember urging people to look for common ground - on issues such as infrastructure - where we could see progress that everyone wanted regardless of political leanings.

I think that’s the place most likely to have those “self-appointed election monitors”. They just know (a) their area is full on red, and (b) the Democrats are stealing the election from them so they need to be vigilant.
I think that our electoral college system has given red areas far too much power in the election. It really is time to get rid of the EC.
I’m hoping for the same, although I fear that the instant the melon felon departs this mortal coil, his cultists, at the urging of his acolytes, will go on a killing spree, with their victims being their usual targets.
I wish it were just a boring cliche. The problem is his followers believe it. And not being courageous enough to pull a re-do of January 6, 2021 is exactly what will lead to violent attacks. There will also be attacks on state legislatures.

He’s already laid the groundwork for that. And, of course, he will use those court cases as reasons to delay his sentencing in one or more cases and actual trials in others.
You forget the melon felon is naught but a puppet of the laster evil person he admires who deigned to speak to him. If he manages to get Musk into the administration, Musk’s apparent dream of the United States of Orania just might come to fruition.

If the county contacts me about distributing ballots to nursing homes and the like, I’ll definitely do it, and also help with counting if they need me. I did it in 2022 and while it was a fairly dull job, it was so needed and I’m more than willing to do it again (and I would be willing to do it as a volunteer, but we’ll be paid).
While we counted, there were some people who were standing in the corner with lanyards declaring them to be poll watchers. They could come and go as they pleased, but they were not allowed to participate or interfere in any way. They were also doing this as volunteers.
If you’ve ever heard Stephen Miller talk about this, I think you’d have less doubt about it. He’s going to do it with glee. He gets a gleam in his eye when he talks about it.
I don’t think this will happen. The evil, destructive energy-- charisma, if you will-- radiates from him. It IS a cult of personality. There is no one who has the magnetic pull that he does. When he croaks off, it will be like cutting off the head of a snake. He hasn’t groomed a replacement, and there is no one waiting in the wings to take his place, thank goodness.
The MAGAs will still hold their bigoted, ignorant, cruel beliefs as they always have and always will, but IMHO the movement will be like a plane that has lost engine power and become a glider, ultimately descending. There may be isolated acts of violence, but I don’t believe there will be enough organized energy to keep the movement going in any unified way.
